Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist has died in the accident that closed the A40 earlier today.

A police spokesman said: "At approximately 9:20 this morning, a two vehicle collision was reported on the A40 Whitland bypass.

"The vehicles involved were a red Vauxhall Astra and a motorcycle/moped.

"Tragically, the male motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries. The A40 is closed from St Clears roundabout to Penblewin roundabout, and diversions are in place so that examinations can take place. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone with any information to contact them on 101."
