The severe weather and exceptionally high tides predicted for this weekend in Pembrokeshire are now expected to be similar to that of Friday 3rd January.

People are advised to prepare for the impact of flooding and are strongly advised to keep away from coastal areas over the weekend.

Pembrokeshire County Council will have teams on standby at key locations over the weekend, and will be working with other organisations to minimise the impact of the storm on the community and respond to any emergency.

Heavy showers are forecast overnight (Friday night) and tomorrow (Saturday) combined with very strong winds, very high tides (7.8m at Milford Haven on Saturday morning), and tidal surges of up to 0.5m.

A Flood Warning will be issued this afternoon by Natural Resources Wales. Please keep an eye on their website for up to date notification.

A Pembrokeshire Coast Alert warning has been issued.

The flood guidance statement is Amber for the Pembrokeshire Coastline: There is a medium likelihood of significant disruption from coastal area flooding on Saturday’s morning high tide along the whole of the coasts of Wales.

This is due to a combination of high tide and astronomical tides, a positive surge, strong winds, large waves and high river levels.

There is also a medium likelihood of minor impacts around many parts of the coastline at other times from Friday to Sunday.

There is a Yellow Warning Issued by the Met Office: - Ice for Friday evening - Rain for Friday and Saturday - Wind for Saturday and Sunday
