RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information about four Jack Russell puppies who were handed into a veterinary practice in Haverfordwest on Friday (January 31) with suspected chemical burns on their bodies.

The dogs were taken to the vets in the Portfield area by a group of people who said they had found the dogs dumped on the road, although they did not leave their contact details and left promptly afterwards.

The dogs were in a reasonable condition apart from the burns centred around their hinds although the vet reported that they smelt strongly of Dettol. They were treated for the burns before being transferred into the care of the RSPCA.

Inspector Keith Hogben said: ”These puppies look like they could be from two different litters as two are much bigger than the others.

“They were allegedly found at the side of a road and taken to the vets although the people who took them there didn’t hang around long enough to give anymore details about where they were found.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has information about where these pups came from and how they came to suffer these burns.

“Thankfully the pups are doing well and will hopefully be rehomed to loving homes in the near future".

If anyone has any information about this incident they are urged to contact the inspector’s information line on 0300 123 8018 and leave a message for Inspector Keith Hogben. All calls will be treated in confidence.
