Weather Update:
• Wind At Cleddau Bridge currently reported at around 80mph with gusts in excess of 94mph
• Weather Warnings have been updated and changed to Amber.

Damage:
• Part of wall collapse onto road near Golden Grove school, Pembroke Commons
• Porch Roof come onto the road at Glebelands, Johnston
• Tiles off the Dragon Public House in Narberth and falling on road

Trees – A number of the tree down will be linked to road closures
• Tree down on diversion route from Penycwm to Roch – Tree cleared and Road has reopened
• Tree down Gwaun Valley between Cilgwyn junction and school
• Tree overhanging road between Glandy Cross and Mynachlogddu
• Tree down partially blocking road between Canaston Bridge and Llawhadden
• B4314 – Tree down near junction with Crinow – Road Blocked
• Tree blocking road near Trenewydd, Moylegrove
• Tree down at Treffgarne Lodge
• Tree down at Keeston Hill next to Scamford Caravan Park – Road partially blocked
• Branches on road at Conkland Hill as you approach Wiston from the A40 at Arnolds Hill

Road Closures:
All roads in the South which have been affected by debris, dangerous structures or fallen trees are still closed until further notice.

The council is working to reopen roads where possible. Most of the trees down (listed above) have resulted in road closures.

• B4314 – Road blocked by Junction with Crinow
• Burton to Haverfordwest Road closed at the Tiddly, Freystrop

POLICE UPDATE: Dyfed-Powys Police is receiving a number of reports of roofing material being blown off buildings in Cardigan, Aberystwyth, Pembrokeshire, Ystradgynlais and Llanelli.

The safety of the public is paramount, and a decision has been made to close Cardigan High Street due to the danger posed by falling slates.

Please stay away from these areas and stay indoors as much as possible. Try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees.

Firefighters have been out across the county dealing with emergencies caused by the high winds. Here they tackle roof felting that was blown into a tree on the main A40 Fishguard Road, Haverfordwest, near the Western Telegraph offices. And loose electricity and telephone cables.

School Closures: All schools in Pembrokeshire are now CLOSED.

  • Haverfordwest Lending Library is now CLOSED to the public (including Community Education).
  • CLEDDAU BRIDGE REMAINS CLOSED TO ALL VEHICLES – 93.6mph recorded at Cleddau Bridge. Traffic management in place at Carew Bridge
  • Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency Wales for the Pembrokeshire coast and for North & west Pembrokeshire rivers.

1 to 1.5m surge expected for High Tide at 17.00 at Milford Haven. This will potentially result with a 7.6m tide coupled with large waves and may result in flooding.

  • ALL RAIL SERVICES WEST OF LLANELLI STOPPED FROM 2pm.

• Roof Panels at Sir Thomas Picton Sports hall are flying off – Building Maintenance are in attendance
• Spittal School – Slates flying off the roof
• A487 Trewalter hill (between Mathry and Square and Compass): Richards Brothers service bus hit by tree en route to the school – no children on board. All parents have been contacted and children are now home
• Precarious Road signs on Honeyborough roundabout
• Roof structure, Robert Street in middle of road – FRS in attendance
• Charles Street closed -Public safety issue
• Roof blown on the A487 at the Hancock Brothers’ farm on the outskirts of Roch

One of the first casualties of the day was Narberth Castle.

Access to the Pembrokeshire County Council-leased site was shut off for safety reasons following damage caused.

A structural survey will now be carried out.

Firefighters were called to Milford Haven at around 2pm aftre reports heavy slates had been blown off a roof onto Robert Street, in Milford Haven. Crews arrived within five minutes of the call, and are still in attendance. The street remains closed as a result.

In Saundersfoot, an aluminium shed was seen blowing towards the road at Ridgeway. The fire service also received a call saying a garage roof had also blown off onto the road.

In Neyland large quantity of tiles and scaffolding have become loose in the wind.

Crews are still in Narberth, after calls of chimney pots and roof tiles having fallen onto pathway.

In Crundale, near Haverfordwest, firefighters are still attending to a tree that has fallen down onto a driveway.

Winds of 93.6 mph have already been recorded on the Cleddau Bridge and there are Hurricane Force 12 winds off the Pembrokeshire coast.

The bridge is closed to all vehicles.

Pembrokeshire County Council's area maintenance crews have been delayed attending trees down until the wind drops to safe working levels.

Greenhill School Tenby, Portfield School in Haverfordwest, and Manorbier School all closed earlier this afternoon. Ysgol y Preseli and Ysgol y Frenni in Crymych are also closed.

regarding the story about the St Clears road blocked - the camera has not worked for many many months, rather like one of the two in Carmarthen - Senedds run out of money and cannot afford to repair them
