A WOMAN in her 40s and a teenage girl were taken to hospital with serious injuries, after a traffic accident involving a horse and a black Volkswagen Golf.
Fire crews from Whitland and Carmarthen were called to the incident on the A4066, between St Clears and Laugharne, at around 9.30pm on Saturday (March 8).
They used cutting gear to free the four passengers, and supplied oxygen therapy.
Three ambulances were sent to the scene of the accident, and the two women and two children were taken to Glangwili General Hospital.
The driver sustained serious injuries, but police have said she is currently in a stable condition.
Two of the casualties had sustained only minor injuries.
The horse, which is believed to have escaped from a field, died at the scene.
The road was closed for approximately four hours with diversions in place.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Carmarthenshire roads policing unit on 101.
