TWENTY jobs are to be created in Pembroke Dock, it has been announced.

Genpower Ltd, national importers of Hyundai Power Equipment, has moved its UK headquarters to the former Cambrian Windows site, Isaac Way.

Bosses said the move follows an exceptional year for the company, which saw a huge growth in sales of generators and water pumps, as well as the successful launch of its garden machinery range.

Genpower has only moved from Milford Haven but the company’s new premises will enable it to respond to the increasing demand for Hyundai products and increase staff levels across sales, administration, after sales and warehouse.

More jobs are expected to be created later this year, as Genpower looks to increase its dealer network threefold in 2014 alone.

"This marks the next stage of the development of the Hyundai brand," said Genpower Ltd managing director Roland Llewellin.

"More than trebling the size of premises allows us to bring all operations under one roof,

increasing efficiency and allowing us to further expand the business.

“With new dealers being appointed every week, this new unit allows us to fully support our dealers who are vital for our business.

“The move will also future proof our business and accommodate our ambitious growth targets."

Cabinet member for economy, tourism and communities Councillor David Pugh said: “We are absolutely delighted that Genpower is going over to the factory and it’s got the potential to grow.

“It’s good news, having had the bad news of Mustang Marine – it’s not going to compensate for the 66 jobs lost at Mustang Marine but it’s a step in the right direction.”

The Cambrian Windows factory closed last April with the loss of 120 jobs.
