WAR memorials around the county will be getting a facelift in time for events to mark the centenary of the First World War.
A clean-up operation is currently being carried out on the Belgian War Memorial in Milford Haven, and work will shortly be starting on the memorial in Fishguard.
The materials for the works to be undertaken in Fishguard have been donated by GJS Utilities Ltd, with labour costs being met by the Council.
Last year, Pembrokeshire County Council carried out a survey of all the memorials it is responsible for, to assess what needed doing.
A spokesman for the authority said some of the work identified had already been carried out, while other sites were already being worked on.
“All of our war memorials will have been attended to before the First World War commemorations begin with additional works including repairing and painting metal work, replacing slabs and masonry repairs,” she added.
