A woman has died in a collision outside of Fishguard this morning (Tuesday).

The woman was a member of staff at Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Fishguard.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police, said: "At approximately 08:02 this morning, Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a two vehicle RTC on the A40 outside Fishguard, towards Scleddau.

"The vehicles involved were a blue Mini Cooper and a grey Volkswagen Golf.

"Tragically the female driver of the Mini Cooper sustained fatal injuries.

"The male driver of the Golf has sustained serious, but not believed to be life threatening injuries – and has been conveyed by air ambulance to Morriston hospital.

"The road is closed and diversions are in place."

A spokesman for Pembrokeshire County Council said: "Ysgol Glannau Gwaun in Fishguard is closing today (Tuesday) following the  death of a member of staff in a road traffic accident this morning.
The school is expected to reopen tomorrow morning."

Police are appealing to anyone who was travelling on this stretch of road this morning between 7.30a.m and 8.10a.m or anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them on 101.
