THE artist behind some of pop music’s most famous album covers will have his say on the work of a Welsh icon, when he comes to St Davids this month.

Sir Peter Blake - best known for creating the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album art – will discuss Dylan Thomas’ masterpiece Under Milk Wood at a special event at Ysgol Dewi Sant.

Joining Sir Peter for this unique conversation will be Dylan Thomas expert Jeff Towns – who has spent the last four decades researching the poet and playwright.

Taking place at 11am on Saturday, May 17, the event will coincide with the opening of Sir Peter’s exhibition ‘Llareggub: Peter Blake illustrates Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood’ at Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre.

Tegryn Jones, Chief Executive of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, which owns and manages Oriel y Parc, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to witness what promises to be a fascinating discussion about Dylan Thomas’ most famous work.

“We hope people will also take the time to see this extraordinary collection of work by Sir Peter Blake in the heart of the West Wales landscape which inspired Dylan Thomas and so many other cultural greats.”

Spaces are limited so be sure you don’t miss the chance to hear one of one of Britain’s most famous living artists in conversation about the inspiration behind his most recent exhibition.

This special event is just one of many taking place in and around Oriel y Parc as part of the Dylan Thomas 100 festival, celebrating a century since the birth of the renowned Welsh poet.

Oriel y Parc is owned and managed by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, working in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales.

Tickets for the event are priced at £7 (£5 for concessions) and are available from Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre, call 01437 720 392.

The exhibition runs until September 23. For more information visit www.orielyparc.co.uk.
