TRIBUTES have been paid to a Milford Haven man, who died in a motorbike accident in the early hours of Monday morning.

The man, in his mid-30s, has been named locally as Luke John Allerton. He was taken to hospital after a collision on The Rath, Milford Haven, but could not be saved.

The incident happened at about 12.15am, and the road was closed for several hours while police examined the scene.

Friends and family have left flowers near to where the incident happened, along with messages of condolence to ‘Luke the duke’- as he was also known.

The accident is the third fatal motorcycle crash in Pembrokeshire in recent weeks.

Speaking yesterday, Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon said: “It’s always distressing to hear of untimely deaths – and I’m constantly reminded by the people of Dyfed-Powys that they see road safety as hugely important.

“I wouldn’t wish to comment on specific incidents, but I do implore everybody across Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Powys to use our roads with care and respect.

“Anti-social driving, for instance, remains a big problem. Dyfed-Powys Police has doubled its patrols to tackle this issue and is making more resources available.

“I’ve just agreed to the purchase of two more unmarked police motorbikes to be used for speed enforcement duties, general patrols and road safety campaigns.

“Meanwhile, the police force continues to discuss road safety issues with the Welsh Government.”

Police are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnesses the crash on The Rath. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
