WORKSHOPS to discuss a new Welsh law 'designed to shape the future' will be held in Pembrokeshire next month.

The Wales We Want workshops will discuss the Future Generations Bill - ground-breaking Welsh legislation expected to come into being next year.

Peter Davies, Future Generations commissioner, has called for a public conversation to find out what sort of Wales people do want.

The Pembrokeshire workshops will be designed to build some agreement that can be fed into Welsh government, to influence the bill.

'Futures champion' Vicky Moller, who will be running the local workshops, said: "The bill will oblige all levels of government to make decisions that benefit future generations as well as the present.

"Some people assume that is what government is meant to do already, but of course the short electoral cycle and fear of unpopularity mean that short term interests are nearly always pandered to.

"Future generations have had a rough deal compared to mine, leading to the label 'the jilted generation'."

There will be workshops at the Hilton Court Green Fayre on Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, at 11am and 2pm, and at the Buzzing About Pembrokeshire Fair in Canolfan Hermon on Saturday, May 17, at 10.45am.
