Two people have died and two are in hospital following a horrific crash on the A40 today (Saturday).

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "At approximately 3:50pm this afternoon, 10th May, police received a report of a road traffic collision on the A40 just outside Haverfordwest heading towards St Clears. There were two vehicles involved in the collision. Both the driver and the passenger of one of the vehicles tragically died at the scene. The passenger and the driver of the other vehicle have been taken to hospital, one is in a serious condition.

"The A40 from Haverfordwest to St Clears is currently closed in both directions with local diversions in place, and signposted. This closure is likely to remain in place until at least midnight tonight.

"Please note that the Cleddau Bridge is closed to high sided vehicles, and drivers are asked to check the diversions and their route before travelling."
