A surfer was taken to hospital yesterday (Sunday) after getting into difficulty in the waves at Newgale.
St Davids all-weather lifeboat, Little Haven inshore lifeboat and an RAF rescue helicopter from Chivenor were tasked to reports of a surfer in trouble at 1.10pm.
The surfer managed to make it ashore, with the assistance of others, just as the lifeboat was arriving on scene. The helicopter was subsequently stood down.
The casualty was then treated by a coastguard team from Broad Haven and ambulance paramedics, before being transported to Withybush Hospital by ambulance.
St Davids lifeboat then escorted Little Haven ILB back to her station, due to the sea conditions, before returning its moorings at 2.47pm.
