A club for families coping with dementia-related illnesses is launching a free bus service to and from its meetings tomorrow (Friday).

Funding from the National Lottery Awards for All Wales, and donations from organisations and individuals have enabled the Taf Quality Time (QT) Club to provide the bus.

It will collect from and return to St Clears, Bancyfelin and Whitland at first, and later will be extended to include Meidrim, Llangynin and Laugharne.

Club chairman Reg Wyeth from St Clears said that having a bus service for the club was a major goal which he wanted to achieve during the club’s first year.

He added: “Often, when memory loss strikes, people become more house-bound than ever. This service is designed to help those who don’t drive, or are without their own transport, or who may have their driving licence revoked.”

The club meets on alternate Fridays at 2pm in the St Clears Boating Club, with the next meetings tomorrow, May 23, June 6 and June 20.
