JUST a week after completing the longest open sea kayak crossing in the UK, Clarbeston Road adventurer Tori James has kayaked from Porthgain to Anglesey.

Tori, 32, who now lives in Cardiff, is one of four adventures in the Beeline Britain team attempting to become the first people to travel from Land’s End to John O’Groats in a straight line.

On Sunday (May 25) Tori and the team set off from Porthgain on the third leg of their journey.

They kayaked non-stop for 24 hours, arriving in Anglesey at 2.30pm on Monday (May 26). More than 20 local sea kayakers and 100 people turned out to greet the intrepid adventurers.

The first leg of the journey saw the team kayak non-stop from Land’s End to Dale.

Having paddled for more than 34 hours without sleep and travelled 200km+, they were the first people to have ever crossed from Land’s End to Pembrokeshire in sea kayaks. The team then cycled from Dale to Porthgain.

Tori was the youngest British woman and the first Welsh woman to climb Everest. She and the team plan to leave north Wales for the Isle of Man on Thursday (May 29).

The Beeline Britain charity challenge will see Tori spend 100 hours in a kayak, 34 hours on a bike and more than 12 hours on foot across some challenging terrain, including the UK’s second highest peak - Ben MacDui in the Caringorm mountains.

The team hope to raise £20,000 for BLESMA, a charity for limbless servicemen and women and their families.

The 1,100km challenge is expected to take more than two weeks but whatever happens Tori has to finish by June 21 to be bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding.
