This year’s Coastal Command and Maritime Air Association reunion will be held in conjunction with The Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Pembroke Dock this weekend.

Pembroke Dock acted as a main base for Royal Air Force Coastal Command flying boats in support of Operation Overlord, significantly preventing the German Navy from disrupting Operation Overlord by patrolling the western approaches.

This year is the 70th anniversary of D-Day, and is also significant as the 200th Anniversary of Pembroke Dock becoming a Royal Dockyard.

Topics to be discussed will include Pembroke Dock - Flying Boats and Marine Craft Unit – Coastal Command’s activities prior to and including D Day – the Maritime Air Trust - the privatisation of Search and Rescue Services, and efforts the Association ismaking to inspire government to reinstate Maritime Patrol Aircraft following the scrapping of the Nimrod.
