The start of Seafair Haven 2014 is marked tomorrow (Saturday) with Lawrenny Yacht Club’s regatta.

The cruiser sailing race starts at midday from Lawrenny Point. It is the open race part of the Haven Regatta Series and is sailed under the Byron James Handicap.

Entry is £10 and details are available from Rear Commodore Sail Bob Allen on 07531 466236.

A welcome and presentation will follow the race in the marquee at the Lawrenny Arms.

From 1pm there will be a land-based RNLI fete, featuring the RNLI souvenir stall, a crab fishing competition for the younger enthusiasts, various other stalls and games and a raffle.

This will be followed by a barbecue and cider festival in the Lawrenny Arms marquee, with entertainment by The Twurzels.

The following weekend, on Saturday, June 14, the annual River Carnival from Lawrenny to Cresswell Quay will get under way at 6pm.

There will be a barbecue on arrival at Cresswell Quay and prizes, sponsored by the Cresselly Arms and Doombar, for categories including the best dressed craft and crew.

Everyone is welcome and the competition is open to all.
