AN INFORMATION day in Milford Haven is part of a week of events celebrating the county's 15,000 carers.

Organised by Pembrokehsire County Council, the day will take place at the Pill Social Centre, on Wednesday, June 11, from 11am until 3pm.

It is one of several events being held in Pembrokeshire to mark National Carers Week, which runs from June 9 to 15.

The day will include information stalls publicising the wide range of services and support available for carers - and the people they care for - as well as offering relaxing therapies, health checks and refreshments.

Held every year, Carers Week celebrates the role of carers and highlights the vital contribution they make to their families and communities in providing unpaid care for those who are ill, frail or disabled.

Councillor Mike James, Pembrokeshire's Carers Champion, said caring could be a very rewarding experience, but it could also be very demanding.

"There are an estimated 15,000 carers in Pembrokeshire who provide support to disabled or frail relatives and friends," he said.

"This information day will provide them with support and advice and, hopefully also, give them a bit of a break."

"It's one of the many activities and services that the County Council provides to support carers across the County."
