A Letterston businesswoman is planning a glamorous fundraising event to give something back to two charities that supported her family through difficult times.

Emma Griffiths, owner of Em’s Hair Boutique, is organising a charity fashion show, buffet and music night at Allt Yr Afon Wolfscastle on June 28th.

The event will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Withybush chemotherapy day unit appeal.

Both are causes close to 23-year-old Emma’s heart, her partner, Chris, was diagnosed with testicular cancer three and a half years ago. The cancer had spread to his lymph nodes, spine and stomach area.

Chris is now in remission. He had operations in Carmarthen and the Heath and received most of his other treatment at Withybush.

“Macmillan and the day unit were brilliant,” she said. “They were really supportive. Without them you don’t realise how much you’d actually struggle. They made hard times bearable.

“I’ve always wanted to do something myself to raise funds for them.”

Emma is hoping to raise a total of £5,000 from the charity event, a raffle, the auction of a holiday in Tenerife and sales of a calendar she has produced.

The charity night will run begin at 7pm with a fashion show featuring clothes from Occasions and Vincent Davies. This will be followed by a buffet supper. Live band Hooked will then keep the crowd dancing until 12pm.

The dress code is smart/black tie and tickets are priced at £25, which includes a glass of wine on arrival.

Tickets can be bought from Em’s Hair Boutique in Letterston, via the facebook page EmsCharityEvent or e-mail Emma at egriffiths365@googlemail.com.
