MILFORD Haven was moving and shaking this weekend, as the fifth annual Arts Care Gofal Celf (ACGC) dance festival, D14, got underway.

On Sunday a plethora of Pembrokeshire dancers, both amateur and professional, took to the stage to showcase a myriad of styles from breakdance to bellydance while a series of well attended workshops took place in the main marquee.

Dancers from all over the county and beyond were well-supported by an enthusiastic audience. Performers ranged in age from three to 72 years of age, many of them attendees of Arts Care Gofal Celf’s youth, community, older people and health and wellbeing dance groups.

The two day event also featured a sponsored danceathon, which raised funds for ACGC’s Touch Trust outreach project. This raised enough money to run 20 creative movement sessions to children and young people living with physical or learning disabilities, those with autistic spectrum disorder and those living with multiple and profoundly complex needs.

“We are chuffed with how it went,” said ACGC dance development manager, Laura Jenkins. “It was brilliant. There was a great atmosphere and such a diverse range of dance.

“We are so impressed with everybody who came, supported and participated. We are already planning for next year and hope to make it an even bigger and better event.”
