A Newport man who has pleaded not guilty to five assault charges against four women – one of whom is his partner – is due to appear at Swansea crown court today (Friday).

The Crown Prosecution Service says the offences took place in Fishguard on March 3.

Michel Lorenzo Castiglia, 28, of Maes Morfa, is alleged to have assaulted Jade Macdonald and Emma Griffiths, causing them actual bodily harm, and to have assaulted Maralyn Weale by beating her.

He is also alleged to have assaulted his partner, Emily James, twice.

Magistrates have already declined jurisdiction in the case, and ordered Castiglia to appear before Swansea Crown Court today.

He was bailed on the conditions that he did not contact the alleged victims, and did not enter any licensed premises, particularly the Old Coach House in Fishguard.

Castiglia is listed to appear in front of His Honour Judge PH Thomas QC for a preliminary hearing today.
