ORGANISERS were bowled over with the collection of fantastic floats and fancy dress entries at Tish carnival on Saturday (August 9).

Rain failed to stop play, as the procession made its way through the village and on to the cricket fields, where locals partied late into the night.

Carnival committee member Adrian Griffiths said: “Despite the good old Pembrokeshire weather trying to spoil things, the fact is it didn't.

“The creativity and quality was exceptional and the spirit of community was fantastic.”

Carnival queen Ebony Davies looked resplendent, accompanied by her three attendants Caitlyn Hawkins, Rebecca Llewellin and Chloe Pawlett, and the carnival committee kept calm and carried on with their Land Girl-themed float.

Graham and Irene Salter were judged to have the ‘best dressed house’ with their First World War-themed entry.

Dancers from Coastlands School and Little Monsters magic act entertained in the afternoon, and singer Steve Bartram performed a “fantastic set” to a packed Cricket Club.

Rounding off the night were singer and comedian Paul Dazeley, and Mark Devs Disco.

Mr Griffiths said he had been overwhelmed with the generosity of local businesses who donated prizes for the grand raffle, with tickets to Skomer, Folly Farm and an iPod Touch among the 43 prizes up for grabs.

He also thanked sponsors Pembrokeshire Building and Plumbing Supplies, and Roland and Lisa Llewellin from Genpower Ltd, for helping with all the promotion, and for donating a lawnmower to the raffle.

“Roll on 2015,” he said.
