Five childhood friends of a “charismatic and determined” Goodwick man, who died unexpectedly last year, will this weekend tackle a gruelling 12 mile obstacle course together to raise funds in his memory.

Gianni Sonvico, 23, a newly qualified barrister, went missing in London, on October 25. His body was later found in the Thames.

Gianni’s friends have joined forces to tackle the Tough Mudder South West.

The G Team comprises of David Roscoe, David Havard, Oliver Davies, Llew Jones and Ryan Leeke.

Together they will tackle a 12 mile obstacle course over rough and rigorous terrain featuring steep climbs and deep mud pits.

“It is a challenge Gianni often mentioned and I’m sure he would have taken it in his stride,” said G Team member David Roscoe. “We feel it is appropriate to be undertaking it in his memory.

“He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. We spent every weekend together growing up, when we went our separate ways he made sure we got together to catch up when we came home.”

The G Team is raising funds for the Arsenal Foundation, a charity which motivates and inspires young people to reach their full potential often through sport or education.Gianni was a huge Arsenal fan and a proud season ticket holder.

Gianni’s mother, Karen Chandler added: “Gianni had the most wonderful friends growing up. They are scattered across the country but have come together since he died to offer me and Maya incredible support.

“To do this challenge in his name, and support each other in this way, is very special.”
