A Narberth runner is stepping out on a ten day Pembrokeshire coast path challenge today (Monday).
Suzi Tarrant will be running the 186-mile length of the path from St Dogmaels in the north to Amroth in the south.
Her route will take her through 453 gates, 55 stiles and 30,347 feet of ascent.
“And hopefully just as many downhill!” said Suzi, who is aiming to raise as much money as she can for WaterAid’s To Be a Girl campaign.
The charity, whose vision is of a world where everyone will have safe access to safe water and sanitation by 2030, is on a mission this year to raise £1m to help communities where young girls take on the role of their family’s water-carriers.
WaterAid says that the lives of girls around the world are dominated by water-carrying, with young women spending 152million hours every day collecting water for their families, to the detriment of their health and schooling.
The campaign is being match-funded by the UK government up until September 9, so Suzi’s final total will be doubled.
