Fishguard's Lota Park was bustling with dancers, musicians, Transylvanians, Lego characters and soldiers on Saturday, as a tip top carnival came to town.

The carnival, organised by Fishguard and District Round Table, kicked off with a procession of floats and walking entries, led by Goodwick Brass Band, cheered along by crowds lining the streets.

Entertainment in the carnival field included Patch the dancing panda; Slicks Martial Arts display team; the West Wales Academy of Dance and Pembrokeshire Falconry.

A continuing collaboration between the carnival and the Aberjazz festival saw the exuberant Mr Wilson's Second Liners wow the crowds with their inimitable fusion of New Orleans street music and 90s dance tunes. The carnival field later resonated with the sound of drumming as master drummer, Emmanuel Okuni Annang, led a drumming workshop.

The day ended with an array of home grown performers taking to the carnival stage, for the ever popular Fishguard's Got Talent competition. This year's winner was local teen Efa Wilson, with her enchanting rendition of Adele's Rolling in the Deep.

The Round Table raised £3,330 from the day which will all go back into the community.

"It was absolutely brilliant," said Chairman Robin Baker. "The weather was good and there were lots of people both watching the procession and on the carnival field. The performances were good and people said it was one of the best carnivals they have seen. Thanks to everyone that came and to all the businesses that supported us."
