HUNDREDS of people got into the groove at Fishguard Library over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The visitors – both residents and holidaymakers – were serenaded among the books on Monday, August 25 by talented musicians as part of the town’s 11th Aberjazz Festival.

Performances were given by: Allspice – a local four piece harmony band featuring guitar, ukulele and the four voices of Pam, Liz, Alice and Gemma; The Blues Duo - Tommy Allen and Johnny Hewitt; and David Pepper and Friends.

“It was a really successful event with more than 400 people visiting the library throughout the day,” said Wendy Davies, Customer Services Librarian.

“The library was a real cultural hotspot and hopefully we will be able to reprise it all again next year!”

In addition to music, visitors were also able to view two special exhibitions: 'The Commencement of the First World War' in the Library’s Art gallery as well as the internationally renowned Last Invasion Tapestry Gallery.

They were also treated to a talk entitled 'The Story of the Last Invasion of Britain’ by local historian Richard Davies at the Tourist Information Centre.

Meanwhile the library remained open for borrowing throughout the day offering all its usual facilities including free internet access.
