A LONG term supporter of the Pembrokeshire Lottery has scooped the first major jackpot.

Malcolm Harts from Jeffreyston won £8,000 in the first of the new super draws last Wednesday (September 10).

The county council worker, who pays through a salary reduction scheme, said: “I’ve been playing the Pembrokeshire Lottery since 1997.

“I have won before, but just one of the £100 prizes about two or three years ago.

“It’s very nice winning £8,000. There’s never a bad time to win £8,000.

“It’ll be spent on the family. I’ve got an eight month old grandson so I’m sure he’ll have some.”

Mr Harts added: “I play the Pembrokeshire Lottery because it puts money back in the county. You’ve got a much better chance of winning with them than you do with the National Lottery.”

Pembrokeshire Lottery manager Abigail Owens said: “Congratulations to Mr Harts and many thanks to him and all of our other players who have contributed for so long.

“They’ve enabled the lottery to be the success it has and we’re grateful for their continued support.”

Since its launch in 1994, the Pembrokeshire Lottery has loaned more than £4.5 million to 330 local businesses, creating more than 1,600 jobs. It has also handed out £2.5 million in prize money.
