A PEMBROKESHIRE business family has donated nearly £4,600 to three charities which support local cancer patients.

Todaro’s hairdressers in Haverfordwest and Milford Haven raised the superb sum in memory of their founder, Frank Todaro, who passed away in April at the age of 83, following a long battle with prostate cancer.

Mr Todaro opened his first salon in 1962 and was still cutting hair after over half a century in the trade.

The Paul Sartori Foundation, Shalom House and Prostate Cymru were the good causes chosen by Todaro’s because of the support they had shown to the family.

Each of the charities has now been presented with a cheque for £1,533.

The money was raised after Todaro’s two salons held a charity day in June, when they donated all the money paid for men’s haircuts. The total also included generous gifts in lieu of flowers at Mr Todaro’s funeral, in addition to those from customers.

Said company director Rosanna Todaro-Bowen, the youngest of Frank Todaro’s four children: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to present so much money to our three chosen charities. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support and generosity we’ve received - we couldn’t have asked for a better response.”
