CRYMYCH’S new health centre was praised by the Health Minister Mark Drakeford during a visit on Tuesday, September 9.

The Bro Preseli Community Care Resource Centre includes a GP practice and a day centre alongside 40 purpose-built extra care flats, which gives older people an opportunity to live independently in their own home while receiving 24-hour support and care.

The facility gives people access to health staff, social care teams and other public services under one roof. It also allows patients to access a range of services, such as diagnostic tests, outpatient and specialist services which were previously only available at hospital.

The centre has benefitted from the Welsh Government’s Intermediate Care Fund - more than £8m has been provided to the Mid and West Wales region. Some of this money has been used to modify two of the extra care flats at the Bro Preseli Community Care Resource Centre for intermediate care use.

Professor Drakeford said: “This centre is an excellent example of how to provide care and support to older people in the community and in a way which enables them to live independent lives.

“The staff here are working together across health, social care and housing, along with third sector partners, to provide the best support possible.”

The Bro Preseli Community Care Resource Centre is a partnership between the Family Housing Association, Preseli Peaks GP practice, Hywel Dda University Health Board and Pembrokeshire County Council.
