A SUPERPOD of dolphins was spotted off the Pembrokeshire coast at the weekend.
An estimated 1,000 common dolphins were seen swimming together by Sea Trust volunteers who were carrying out a survey on a 30 mile stretch between Milford Haven and Lundy in the Bristol Channel.
The volunteers said it was the ‘most spectacular’ sighting in 10 years of surveying Welsh waters.
A spokesman from the Sea Trust said: “On three occasions we have encountered superpods of common dolphin in Pembrokeshire waters but this was the most spectacular with wall-to-wall dolphins."
The pods consisted of maternal groups made up of mothers with calves and juveniles.
