A PEMBROKE Dock teenager joined young cancer survivors from across the UK on Friday night to perform in a special choir.

Lauren George fought the disease when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia aged nine.

The 18 year old, well known for her singer/songwriter talent, is now free from the disease and fundraises at every opportunity in the fight against cancer.

She performed the song ‘Brave’ in a choir made up of young cancer survivors on Channel 4’s Stand Up to Cancer event, aired on Friday night.

The youngsters were rehearsed by The Voice coach Mark De-Lisser and were joined on stage by singing superstar Nicole Scherzinger.

Speaking after the performance, Lauren’s dad Jonathan said: “It was a humbling experience.

“It was nice because we were with families that had been through the same experiences of cancer with their children.

“The children really enjoyed it. They had rehearsals in the hotel in the morning and then they went to the studio where they met Nicole before going on stage.

“After filming they all went back to the hotel and twenty bean bags were set out for them to watch the show, they had pop corn, ice cream and pizzas.”

Jonathan added: “Unfortunately Lauren wasn’t well on the day, and went straight to bed once we got back to the hotel, but she still enjoyed the experience.

“Hopefully they’ll be doing Stand Up To Cancer every year, and it would be nice for the kids to come together every year and see them grow up.”
