A total of 107 flooding related calls were received today at Pembrokeshire County Council Contact Centre between 08:10 and 13:30.

The worst affected parts were the north and north-east of the county, particularly St Dogmaels, Newport and Dinas. Fifteen properties were flooded in Hakin, Haverfordwest, Solva, Rudbaxton, Letterston, Rhosfach, Moylegrove and St Dogmaels and Dinas.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance at five of the properties – in Dinas, Solva and St Dogmaels - to clear flood water.

Roads were reported flooded up to knee high in several places, and there were road closures at St Dogmaels and Devonshire Drive near Tenby.

Many of the road flooding issues have been caused by debris dislodged in the heavy rain causing culverts to block.

Other problems have been caused by vehicles driving through deep water, causing ‘bow waves’ to wash into and flood properties.

Several of the flooded roads have had drain covers dislodged and drivers are asked to take extreme care and drive responsibly if there are properties nearby.

Home owners are advised to obtain their own sandbags or other flooding products from builders merchants if their property is susceptible to flooding.

Numerous callers have been requesting sandbags from the council, but crews have been fully stretched and often not able to attend.

A flood warning is still in force for the river Solva. Flood alerts are in force for north and west Pembrokeshire, south Pembrokeshire, Lower Teifi, River Taf, River Cynin and Eastern Cleddau.
