LAST Saturday’s annual 3 Amigos motorcycle charity toy run, in aid of Withybush children’s ward, has been described as one of the best ever.

Despite bitter early morning conditions, the 3 Amigos Christmas toy run saw some 400 motorcyclists leave at 1pm from Pembroke’s Commons car park before riding to Haverfordwest.

All proceeds raised go to Withybush Children’s Ward and Action For Children.

Amongst the many gathered at the Commons Car Park were Normand Veteran Ted Owens, who arrived in a 1965 Morris 1000 Traveller and bagpiper Graham Phillips.

The motorcyclists, following Santa’s sleigh, were greeted by cheering crowds as they rode through Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Neyland, Milford Haven and Haverfordwest before arriving at Withybush children’s ward.

Many of the riders, including the Western Telegraph’s Bruce Sinclair, brought toys and gifts to add to the large collection at the ward.

Gifts for the youngsters had also been collected at drop-off points throughout the county in the run-up to the popular event.

One of the 3 amigos organisers Ness Moseley said: “It was one of the best ever; everything went as it should’ve done, it went on time and in the correct timing and everybody rode in a positive manner.

“We raised nearly £1,500 on the day itself and in total we’re just over £4,000.

“We couldn’t fit them all in the car park, there would’ve been about 3-400; we had slightly better than last year, when the sun comes out everybody turns out.”

She thanked the public for its support and understanding.

“It was great to see the faces of the kids as we went past; and all the people in the cars were leaning out of the windows waving; there was no negativity, everybody was just patient; thank you to all of the general public that put up with our traffic chaos.”

The Amigos also held a post-run event that night at Pembroke Dock Cricket Club where bands Rick Berry & the Retrospex and Candy Skulls performed.
