A MONKTON woman who lunged at her “on-off” partner in front of police after previously kicking him in the groin is due to be sentenced today (Wednesday).

Appearing before Haverfordwest magistrates last Wednesday, Jessica Margaret Husband, 32, who gave her address as Tenby Court, admitted assaulting her former partner on November 27. The court heward the incident had happened during a “bipolar episode,”.

Prosecuting, Peter Lloyd said: “The complainant has been in an on-off relationship with Miss Husband for approximately three years. They’d agreed to meet up in the Castle Inn, Pembroke on the 26th; when he got there she looked as though she’d been drinking.

“He went to another public house before making his way back to the premises where the assault took place. There was an argument when they were inside the house, she started shouting at him, walked towards him and slapped him to the cheek.”

The court heard Mr Culley was slapped a further two times as he tried to leave, only to be prevented.

He attempted to phone police when Husband lunged at him to try to wrest the phone from him before kicking him in the groin.

Police arrived shortly after midnight and were invited in, only for Husband to swing at her partner.

Defending, Jonathan Webb said: “Miss Husband suffers from bipolar disorder; this incident has triggered itself from the malady. She seems to suspect on the night in question drink had been taken, but she was not drunk.

“There was an issue that led to an argument. She can only put it down to not thinking straight.”

Magistrates adjourned sentencing to today, January 14, prior to the preparation of a Probation Services report, with a community order being considered.
