Two members of Narberth football club, described as role models in the local community, are due to be sentenced today (Friday) after an attack on a man in a Saundersfoot nightclub’s toilets.

Kyle Alan Quartermaine, 24, of Halkon Crescent, Narberth, previously admitted jointly assaulting Ben Lloyd Williams, causing actual bodily harm, at the Sands nightclub on September 21.

He also admitted assaulting Mr Lloyd Williams’ friend Owain Gryfydd Davies on the same date.

Ashley David Williams, 24, of Cold Blow, admitted jointly assaulting Mr Lloyd Williams, causing actual bodily harm on the same date.

Prosecuting, Dennis Davies said Mr Lloyd Williams had visited the club’s urinal shortly before 2pm when Williams “went for him,” grabbing at his eyes.

Owain Davies saw his friend being held against the cubicle and thought Williams was going to gouge his friend’s eyes out. He needed seven stitches and suffered a laceration to his right eye.

Defending, Jonathan Webb said: “While Mr Williams was on the dance floor there was a group of boys poking fun at his dancing, being provocative. He saw one of these boys come into the cubicle – Mr Williams accepts that he wasn’t pleasant.

“This is a case of wrong place, wrong time.”

Mr Webb described Williams and Quartermaine as “role models” for Narberth Youth football team.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction, ordering an “all options” report prior to sentencing at Swansea Crown Court today, February 27. Both were granted unconditional bail.
