A Narberth takeaway is applying for a licence to serve late-night hot food.

Aysen Erdogu, who owns Chickenland at 17 High Street, hopes to provide refreshments to the public until 11.30pm from Monday to Thursday and on Sundays. On Friday and Saturday nights – and throughout Bank Holiday weekends – he has applied to serve until 1am.

The proposal will come before a meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing sub-committee today, Monday (March 23).

In support of his application, Mr Erdogu outlined plans to install CCTV at the premises, provide a litter bin, monitor the area outside Chickenland for rubbish and noise nuisance and report any anti-social behaviour to police. He also stated that members of staff would be instructed to ask customers to leave the premises in a “quiet and orderly manner”.

Included in the documents set to be considered by the Committee is a letter from a Narberth resident, concerned the late opening of the takeaway would lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour and result in greater noise and rubbish in the town centre.

A letter from aThe resident objectsing to the plan, raisinged concerns it would lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour, noise and rubbish. It also and claimsed allowing the takeaway to remain open until 1am would be “out of character” for the “small rural town”.
