The "very reprehensible" conduct of councillor Brian Hall moves into the glaring public spotlight tomorrow (Thursday).

Pembrokeshire County Council will face a barrage of questions about Cllr Hall and the circumstances in which members can claim expenses.

In what promises to be a marathon session of county council, six questions and a notice of motion have been tabled by various members.

The issues range from the validity of expense claims by councillors attending functions in a private capacity to Cllr Hall's suitability to represent the authority.

Cllr Sue Perkins has tabled a question about what checks are made to establish whether a member's expenses claim relates wholly to approved duties.

Cllr Mike Williams has asked for the names of members and officers who attended the BBC reception at which Cllr Hall made threatening remarks and if travelling expenses were claimed.

And council leader John Davies will come under pressure to break his silence over the Hall affair.

Cllr Bill Philpin has asked if the leader agrees with the standards committee that Cllr Hall brought himself into disrepute while Cllr Tony Brinsden will ask whether the leader agrees with the committee's view that his conduct was "very reprehensible".

Cllr Mike Stoddart has asked the same question and also whether the leader nominated Cllr Hall to represent him at the reception and whether the chief executive certified that his attendance was for "the proper discharge of the council's functions".

A notice of motion signed by Cllrs Brinsden, Williams and Perkins urges acceptance of the standards committee statement, a vote of no confidence in Cllr Hall and his removal from the cabinet and outside body representation.

The full council meeting takes place at County Hall , Haverfordwest at 10am on Thursday, March 1st. The public are welcome to attend.
