Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke and Matthew Lewis - best known for his role in the Harry Potter movies - have arrived in Pembroke to film scenes for the upcoming film adaptation of the bestselling book Me Before You.

The London-based Pinewood Studios film production of British writer Jojo Moyes’ smash hit started filming today (Friday) and runs through to May 20, with no filming in the town on May 17.

It is expected filming in Pembroke could involve up to 60 people on the production.

The town is no stranger to location shooting; recently the castle was used to film scenes for a film version of hit BBC 3 sitcom Bad Education.

One of the big draws for local fans was Bad Education star Jack Whitehall, who happily posed for “selfie” pictures with local youngsters.

During the filming of Me Before You, some temporary loss of parking spaces is expected, along with traffic controls on The Green and Northgate Street.

Concerns had previously been raised by traders about possible closure of the town’s Main Street.

However, disruption had been kept to a minimum, town councillor Keith Nicholas has previously said.

He hoped the filming in the town once again, would boost the profile of Pembroke.

“While the filming goes on there will be a lot of interest in the film and hopefully the locations used will bring a lot of people to the town and county. It’s good PR for the county, and genuinely no major problems.”
