A 41-year-old man appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court this afternoon (Wednesday) in connection with an alleged sexual assault at the weekend.

Andrew John Phillips has been charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a 40 year-old woman at the multi storey car park in Haverfordwest during the early hours of Sunday (June 28).

He spoke only to confirm his name and his address as Cox Hill, Narberth.

The court heard that Phillips was arrested in Wiltshire on Monday while working as a labourer on a road at Stonehenge.

Proescutor Victoria Thomas made an application to remand Phillips in custody.

Defending, Mark Layton made an application for bail and said his client would plead not guilty to the charges.

Magistrates decided to remand Phillips in custody until Tuesday, July 7, when he will appear before Swansea Crown Court.
