A SPECIAL event is being held in Fishguard Town Hall on Monday, July 13.

The “Fishguard and Goodwick – what’s in it for you?” afternoon gives local groups, clubs and societies the chance to show what they do in the area, and to get more people involved in their work.

The event follows the selection of Fishguard and Goodwick by the World Health Organisation as one of 14 sites around the world to find out more about what makes a community a good place to live.

Marc Mordey, who ran the research, said many people who took part did not want to let all the energy from it evaporate.

He said: “We needed to do something to recognise and celebrate all the incredible activity that goes on locally which makes life better for all sorts of people. We also wanted to get more ideas as to what else we could do to make our community even better – better at providing opportunities for learning, employment and socialising, and at looking after one another.

“If you’re involved in a local business, community group, sports club, Welsh language group, arts activity, youth group, place of worship or anything else, and you’d like to let people of different ages know about your work, we’d like to hear from you.”

“Fishguard and Goodwick – what’s in it for you?” takes place between 2pm and 7pm.
