A SUPER day of sunshine and fun was enjoyed in Narberth on Saturday as townspeople turned out in force for the annual carnival.

The traditional highlight of Narberth Civic Week, the event was held under blue skies and welcomed some fine fancy dress.

Well-loved characters such as Paddington Bear and the Minions mingled with pirates, superheroes, farm animals, bugs and bees to create a colourful spectacle in the sunny streets.

Wearing two hats for the occasion this year was town mayor, Councillor Elizabeth Rogers, who is also Civic Week chairman.

“It’s been a really busy week with some very mixed weather, but full of community spirit,” she said. “We were very grateful to our president, Wyn Calvin, for bringing the sunshine along with him for the civic service and carnival day.”

Veteran entertainer Mr Calvin, who was born in Narberth, presented the £500 for the best carnival float to the local branch of the Royal British Legion for their superb VE Day float.

Town crier Ceri Barnes led the carnival procession around town, which was headed by the float carrying Carnival Queen Abby Rogers and attendant Cerys Warne, Fairy Queen Shay Leathers and attendants Ffion Ramsden and Erin Unsworth, Carnival Princess Ella Warne and Carnival Prince Sonny Thorpe.
