THREE women from a Haverfordwest-based lettings agency will walk 50 miles in 24 hours to raise money for an "inspirational" local man.

Business partners Gail Jones and Kirsty Deluca, and employee Steffani Hosker of Letsmove Residential Lettings have set themselves the non-stop challenge on behalf of Greg Mott.

Twenty-four-year-old Greg, from Haverfordwest, has Cerebral Palsy and Tracheomalacia Formia. The conditions have left him unable to communicate without the aid of his family and support team from Value Independence.

“None of us are fitness fanatics, so training has had its challenges, but we’ve been walking up to 30 miles every weekend and we’re feeling really optimistic!” said Kirsty. “We’ve got a fantastic support team. Our husbands are driving support vehicles on different sections and Alderwicks has donated water to us.”

The trio hope to collect enough money to purchase a tablet communication aid for Greg. The tablet will enable him to communicate more freely, using specialist apps, and offer him a far greater level of independence.

Donations have been pouring in, with £700 of the women’s minimum £2000 target already pledged.

“Greg is a truly inspirational young man,” said Kirsty. “He spends time campaigning in Pembrokeshire schools to raise awareness of those suffering from Cerebral Palsy, and is an advocate to other sufferers. Most humbling of all he recently raised money to aid other young sufferers, putting their needs and requirements above his own.”

The walk will start at Letsmove Residential Lettings Office, 19 High Street, Haverfordwest, at noon on Friday (August 14), and finish at noon on Saturday (August 15) at the Value Independence office at Mayfields, Lower Thornton.

Greg will be joining the women for sections of the walk, and anyone who would like to participate in a stretch is welcome to get involved. Please make contact via the Letsmove Residential Lettings Facebook page.
