A MUCH-needed footbridge in Lower Town, Fishguard may be on the cards thanks to local Assembly Member Paul Davies.
He has written to the Welsh Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, Edwina Hart, calling for the construction of a footpath to better support pedestrians on the A487.
Mr Davies said: “Local residents are justifiably concerned about the dangers posed to pedestrians on this particular stretch of road and so it’s important that the Welsh Government finds a safer solution for the community.
“It is essential that a safe walkway for pedestrians is created to separate them from vehicles, many of which are heavy goods vehicles.”
Edwina Hart has confirmed to Mr Davies that discussions are taking place with Pembrokeshire County Council.
Mr Davies added: “Whilst this is a step in the right direction, the pressure must be kept up to ensure the right result is reached.”
