TEIFI Valley writer Jackie Biggs is launching a book of her poetry this month.

After a long career in news journalism as a reporter and editor Jackie left full time work three years ago to concentrate on writing poetry.

The Spaces in Between is her debut collection and will be launched on Wednesday, September 9 at The Cellar Bar in Cardigan at 7.30pm.

Originally from Hertfordshire, Jackie lived and worked in London until she moved to west Wales in 1986. After a successful career as a journalist – most recently with the Western Telegraph and Tivy-Side Advertiser – she left her full time job and started writing poetry in 2012.

She has been published on a wide range of websites, in magazines and anthologies and she performs her poetry at various spoken word venues across west Wales, including The Cellar Bards in Cardigan, Poems and Pints at The Queens in Carmarthen and at Brown’s in Laugharne.

Love, relationships, death and loss, and the fiercely political are all there in The Spaces in Between. Jackie’s work draws on ideas of memory, reflection and the human emotions that colour our daily lives and she brings nature and landscape to life in her poetry.

Jackie also promotes other writers and literature events and is chairman of the 2015 PENfro Book Festival.

The Spaces in Between, published by Pinewood Press, Swansea, priced at £8. It will be on sale at Bookends Bookshop, Cardigan.
