Concerns about bad smells coming from a new Pembroke Dock waste site are expected to be raised at this evening’s (Thursday's) meeting of Pembroke Dock Town Council.

The recently opened site is being used to process and export black bag waste from Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire to Sweden.

Under the new contract, which the two councils have signed with Potters Waste Management, waste that cannot be recycled will be exported for use in a high efficiency power station to produce both electricity and heat for Swedish households.

Residents living near the site have previously complained about strong odours, particularly during warmer weather.

Pembrokeshire County Council and Potters Waste Management have already apologised for the inconvenience to residents.

A Facebook page, RDF in Pembroke Dock stinks, has been set up to voice concerns.

Potters Waste management said the previous problem was caused by food waste in black bags but added that they had found a solution.

Residents’ concerns are expected to be heard during the town council’s meeting, at The Warrior Room, Pater Hall, Lewis Street from 6.30pm this evening, September 3.
