The concluding exhibition of a unique photography project will be opened by the chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Councillor Wynne Evans today, Thursday, September 3.

Over the summer a group of youngsters have put the focus on their home town of Milford Haven; members of the town’s youth centre have created works of art from the people and places of their home.

The 11 to 16-year-olds have assembled mosaics of well known Milford places using tiny snaps of local people.

The patchwork images will go on display at the Torch Theatre Gallery in September before embarking on a small tour of the county.

Afterwards the pictures will be auctioned off to raise funds for the youth club’s annual Christmas Dinner for pensioners.

Community Youth Worker Nick Hudd said the project had helped the young people connect with the community in which they live.

“While photographing people and places in Milford Haven this summer they have learnt a great deal about the history of our town and the many different people who live in it,” he said.

“The fact that they have chosen to auction their work to aid the town’s senior citizens shows their commitment to being active and constructive members of a community they themselves are helping to shape.”

The youngsters’ pictures will be on view at the Torch Theatre Gallery until Tuesday, September 22.
