A minor amount of oil-polluted seaweed and other materials has been washed back ashore at Llanreath.

The materials were found as a Pembrokeshire County Council workforce surveyed the shoreline at Llanreath this morning.

They noticed a small amount of contaminated seaweed on the strandline and evidence of oiling on some of the rocks. This is minor in comparison to the clear-up undertaken yesterday (Wednesday), the council said.

The team is currently cleaning up the remnant of polluted materials, which washed back ashore, and mopping oil on rocks at Llanreath.

They will then survey Fort Road beach.

It follows work to clean up Llanreath and Fort Road beaches near Pembroke Dock yesterday and Tuesday, following the discovery of crude oil along the shoreline.

The council will leave signs at both locations over the next week to warn members of the public against the potential for possible further pollution and odours at the beach.

There is a still a sheen present on the water which will continue to be naturally broken down.

The clean-up team were thanked for their efforts by some of the locals from Llanreath this morning.

The council will continue to survey both beaches over the next few days.
