A HEARTBROKEN family from Neyland are seeking justice after their beloved cat was thrown from a van on a busy Pembrokeshire road and killed.

Paul and Denise Morris of Woodlane, Honeyfields were left devastated when on Tuesday, September 1, their cat Blackberry didn’t return home.

After asking on Facebook if anyone had seen their cat, the Morris family were left shocked when a witness came forward claiming to have seen the 1-year-old pet being thrown from the window of a white van on the A477.

It’s believed the cat found its way into the van, which was working near the family home on the Tuesday.

Paul and Denise then found their cat dead near where the witness says they saw the cat being thrown. “We all broke down in tears when we found Berry” said Denise, adding: “This has been hard on our daughter Gabby, who is disabled as we recently lost another cat on the same stretch of road.

"However Blackberry didn’t have to die, and we want the culprit named and shamed.”

This event has led to a Facebook page being set up; ‘Justice for Berry’, as Mr and Mrs Morris appeal for any information surrounding their cat’s death.

Over 140 people have joined the Facebook group, sharing their support and their anger over the treatment of the defenceless animal by the occupants of the van.

A friend of Paul and Denise is offering a reward of £500 for any information regarding the cat’s death. Blackberry had been with the Morris family for 16 weeks, after being adopted from Greenacres Animal Rescue Centre.

The witness who saw the cat being thrown from the van spoke to the family saying that they had seen what they believed to be the same van again on Monday September 21.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: "Police can confirm they received a report of a cat being thrown from a vehicle on the A477 near Cleddau Bridge and dying.

"The incident occurred at approximately 2pm on Tuesday, September 1. The matter is being looked into and officers urge anyone who holds any information to contact them on 101."
