Plans to expand a caravan park at Freshwater East are expected to be approved by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park planners when they meet today, Wednesday, September 30.

The application, by Mr A Majcher, seeks to provide 11 all-weather caravan pitches, replacing 11 grass pitches, at the Freshwater East Caravan Club site, land owned by the National Park.

It also includes widening of the existing 59 pitches, refurbishing a reception building, and demolition and replacement of a toilet block.

No objections to the application were received by local community council Lamphey or any any local residents.

Objections to the proposal have been received from Pembrokeshire County Council’s ecologist, and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) raising concerns about the possible presence of bats on the site.

A report for members of the Park’s Development Management Committee states a protected species license would be needed from NRW.

It adds that information has been submitted to the ecologist and NRW.

The report concludes the application be delegated to senior Park planning members to grant permission, subject to no further objections to bat mitigation measures, and subject to time, landscaping and ecological conditions.
