MAYOR Sue Murray officially opened the 2015 Portfield Fair on Wednesday evening.
A procession of town and county officials made their way to the fair at Scotchwell car park from Haverfordwest Town Council offices, led by mayoral crier David Rye and the Haverfordwest mayor.
There were also members of the Showmen’s Guild present, along with mayors and deputy mayors of other Pembrokeshire towns.
At the fair which has a charter dating back to 1694, Reverend Father Marcus Zipperlen blessed the fair on behalf of the Mayors Chaplin.
Mayor Sue Murray then addressed the crowd, saying it was a ‘huge pleasure’ to open the fair.
Cllr Murray added: “I am committed to helping find a new permanent home for the fair.”
After the fair was officially opened, the procession took their places on the waltzer for the traditional first ride of the fair.
